Chapter 24: pgs 734-739

Another part of globalization was liberation and feminist movements. In 1968 there was a movement that was sought out to challenge communist rule in the Soviet Union and it was call “Prague Spring”.  Also another term that developed was the “third world”.  This term refers to countries that have broken free from colonial rule. Women are now stepping up and they are taking control. They are doing things that are not accepted and taking action. Woman liberation was what most did. They would stand firm on what they believed and so that they were just as good as men. This was a little easier for women in the western world to take action then it was for those who are in Africa, Asia, and in Latin America. Most women movements were about gaining rights to legally divorce and have custody of their children. One of the greatest achievements was when women’s rights were recognized at a national level.
